Anti Proxy noise.....
Dion and Warren Smith have this blog called Proxynoise.com, I guess its cool, or I'm supposed to be lead to believe its cool. See, I look at all these "artistic" looking photographs and pictures of them with whine bottles and what not and I think. Man, Those guys must live the life ! look at all these cool photos. I just see it as all kinda lame. That's ok for me to say that right? probably not, I'll get blasted in the comment section but oh well I took a teaspoon of cement this morning. You see, I had this art teacher in high school named Steve McAdams. Really cool guy, amazing artist, and great dad. He just thought the whole Dane Reynolds and all of that bullshit was just so stupid to even think about. Surfings freaking fun. McAdams body surfed and long boarded, switching when he thought he would enjoy the other more. I feel like this whole egotistical surf world is just giving me a huge headache. Reading these magazines and the shit that comes out of these guys mouth. Warren Smith and Dion thinking their leading some surfing renaissance and that they are rockstars or some shit. Just a bunch of contrived bullshit in order to persuade me to buy some more product. That being said Insight, you make some swell clothing. Just crazy to think that Alex Knost and Mick Fanning are essentially doing the same thing, riding waves. I think the fulfillment these guys are looking for is outside of themselves, their blogs, their parties, the surf world in general. Maybe just maybe, they need to see this video. http://offthewall.tv/video/pass_the_bucket_with_tony_alva#Embed

ReplyDeleteits photography. not everything is about surfing. if they weren't surfers it would just be a site for some guys that take pictures. these at least are paying attention to composition and actual elements of design. not that you have to dig it. but not everything is a marketing scheme.
i'm not blasting you. opinions are cool. we all got them. but you can blast people as marketing schemers just because they surf and make art that you may or may not like.
i respect your opinion, some of their photography i do admit is pretty good. Just think they could do a better job of being role models
