XXL Awards recap....

Whenever something good happens to me in life it seems to be last minute. So Yesterday when long time family friend and Hurley photographer Scott Durzo called me unexpectedly saying that he had 4 tickets to the XXL awards I was rather stoked. I called up another family friend Greg Miller, who's a world record cyclist and owns the sand piper hotel in costa rica. I brought a fellow seal grom Aydin Knight and we headed to the grove in Anaheim. I was blown away, hottest woman, endless supply of foul tasting drinks, worlds best surfers and it was a party. I kind of meandered around, people watching, and what not but the video presentation for the heaviest waves was a bit frightening to see how hard people are pushing themselves. Paddling Jaws, massive shipsterns, and the woman are getting into it too. All in all it was an amazing night and feel quite blessed to have gotten the opportunity to attend. Their was a heart wrenching presentation from Sion Malosky's father and I think keala kennelly said it best "the only thing that would make this night better is if Andy Irons and Sion were here".
